The Poetry Project presents : Robert Kelly : A Celebration

The Poetry Project 131 E 10th St, New York, NY, United States

On the eve of his 85th birthday, we join poets, artists, and friends in celebrating the extraordinary and prolific poet Robert Kelly. This event marks Kelly's birthday, as well as the publication of A City Full of Voices: Essays on the Work of Robert Kelly, the second of a two-volume set, preceded by the 2014 A Voice Full of Cities: The Collected Essays of Robert Kelly. In poems that travel vast possibilities of image and linguistic structure, Kelly has propelled us over decades into new terrains of self, relation, environment, and recognition. Hosted by Pierre Joris and Nicole Peyrafitte, with a special reading from Kelly himself, as well as toasts and contributions from Mary Caponegro, Billie Chernicoff, Ian Dreiblatt, Rainer Hanshe, Michael Ives, Kimberly Lyons, Charlotte Mandell, Thomas Meyer, Peter Monaco, Joel Newberger, Tamas Panitz, George Quasha, Susan Quasha, Elizabeth Robinson, Jerome Rothenberg, Anne Waldman, Norman Weinstein, and John Yau.

Anthology Film Archives Screening : Things Fall Where They Lie

Anthology Film Archives NY, United States

This is a bitter sweet event. Our dear friend Steve Dalachinsky transitioned a year ago & Steve & Yuko Otomo are 2 of the major protagonists of the film — a magic week we had during the shoot in my Pyrenean hometown. Anthology film archives was Steve's Annex and having the film NYC-premiered there makes total sense since he still inhabits the place, and since it is a virtual screening he will certainly attend!  So please join in the screening of Things Fall Where They Lie with is part of program 3. But there is a collection of appearances in film and video works by a wide range of filmmakers. Encompassing documentation of Steve’s own performances and readings, short works starring Steve, as well as his guest-appearances and cameos in fiction films and music videos, this series is intended to celebrate Steve’s life and spirit, and to thank him for his untiring dedication to the cinema and to the creative life of New York City and avant-garde culture everywhere.
