Cooking While Confined — “Voilà Lunchtime”
Nicole Peyrafitte & Pierre Joris

Live daily on Facebook & Instagram Monday–Friday at 12:00 PM EST

March 24 – April 24, 2020

In March 2020, as the world shut down, Pierre and I began live-streaming our weekday lunches from our kitchen. For 24 sessions, we cooked simple, nourishing meals—live—while confined at home. These broadcasts became daily rendez-vous for anyone who wanted to join us at the virtual table.

But they were never just about cooking. They extended our shared life-practice—Domopoetics—where no boundary exists between the domestic and the poetic. Lunch became communion: a daily act of care, of presence, of nourishment.

With my background in the food business and a lifelong attention to healthy, thoughtful eating, these meals were as much about sustenance as they were about staying grounded—body and mind—during a time of rupture.

What began as a spontaneous gesture quickly became a lifeline. Viewers tuned in from across the globe—many became regulars.

Afterward

Now, after Pierre’s passing in February 2025, I return to these recordings with deep tenderness. Together, we consciously practiced resilience and love in the rhythms of daily life.

These videos capture Pierre—so loving, so supportive, so patient. His presence lives on in me—deeply, daily.

I feel immense gratitude for the joy, trust, creativity, and extraordinary closeness we shared—how lucky I was to have such a partner in life for 35 years.

About the Videos

These sessions were originally broadcast live on Facebook and Instagram. Due to a recent platform policy change, older live videos were automatically removed—along with all comments, questions, and real-time interactions. Thankfully, I was able to download and preserve most of them before they disappeared. Sadly, the last two recordings appear to be lost. The surviving 22 videos are in this Vimeo collection.

Voilà!
